The Church of St John the Evangelist supports many outreach projects in the Hamilton area and elsewhere, including our Refugee Projects. There are eight missions and outreach opportunities that Vestry has particularly mandated us to support as a parish: we have partnered with these organizations and specifically uplift them in our services, pray for their work, and support them in a variety of ways. We are grateful to have a St John's rep for each one who will keep us informed of the joys and needs of their mission.
HOOTC responds to the needs of the most abandoned of our city's poor and homeless people - the basic physical needs of hot food and warm clothing, and the deeply human needs of compassion, dignity and sense of self worth. Some of us volunteer at the Hamilton Out of the Cold (HOOTC) program held in churches, from November to March - or we bring new underwear!
