We are sad to share the news that Mike Cummings died on Thursday, September 30. Mike was the husband of the late Sylvia Cummings, a lifelong parishioner at St John's and beloved choir member and friend to many. They were a wonderful couple and are both very much missed. Mike passed away peacefully at St Peter's Hospital after several months of palliative care where he remained pain free. We are grateful that just before the pandemic we were able to celebrate Sylvia's life with a funeral at Saint John's. Because of the pandemic no service will be held for Mike at this time. Please do remember Mike's family and friends in your prayers as we give thanks for Mike and Sylvia with all the saints.
With sadness we also share news of the death of the Reverend Don Eustace, one-time Honorary Assistant at St John's. Don passed away on September 29 at the Hamilton General Hospital. Don and Christel, his wife of 44 years, attended St John's for some time before moving to the Cathedral. Don was ordained a priest at the Cathedral in Quebec City and served in parishes in the Eastern Townships and the Dioceses of Ottawa and Niagara. Don will be remembered fondly for his kindness, humour, and easy going manner which endeared him to all who knew him.
May they rest in peace and rise in glory.
