For the six weeks of Lent, our pastoral intern Tom Hubschmid will lead a quiet prayer service every Sunday evening, over zoom. The purpose of this is to meet together with God in openness to the Lord’s voice, which is alive in the Scriptures and the Spirit’s witness through fellow believers. In the spirit of Lent, there will time each service for silent examination of the past week, followed by shared prayers of confession and thanksgiving. Two passages of scripture will be read, and there will be space for participants to repeat the words that stood out for them. Besides that, it is a time of rest with no pressure for discussion. We will let there be room for silence, with the simple enjoyment of being gathered in God’s presence. A booklet with the prayers will be made available. Participants will need to have their Bible (any translation).
We will enjoy an adaptation of the Evening Prayer Service from the Book of Common Prayer that the Anglican Church of Canada authorized in 2019, called Prayer Without Ceasing.
Please email tomhubschmid@gmail.com to let him know if you would like to receive the zoom invites for these services.
