The Proudest Blue by Ibthihaj Muhammad with SK Ali

reviewed by Zoe Jones (aged 5)

The Proudest Blue is about two sisters, one who is wearing her Hijab to school for the first time. Some boys laugh at the Hijab, but the sisters don't listen. The little sister draws a picture of her and her sister having a picnic where the sea meets the sky in the same blue hijabs.

I like the part where the Hijab is like the ocean and the sky.

Sulwe by Lupita Nyong'o

reviewed by Eden Jones (aged 10)

Sulwe is one of my favourite books. It's about a girl who doesn't see beauty in herself because of her skin colour. She learns that dark and light are both valuable. I like it because it shows that everyone has beauty in them, but some of them don't see it.
