Rev. Martha Tatarnic, a representative of the PWRDF Indigenous Water Projec will talk about The Mishamikoweesh Water Partnership, one part of that project
6.00 pm potluck dinner 7:00 pm presentation..
For twelve years, a network of concerned Anglicans (and friends!) have been partnering with First Nation Communities to secure clean, running water in Indigenous homes across Canada. The group, now known as Pimatisiwin Nipi (“Living Water”) Group, supported PWRDF’s water program in the Northern Ontario community of Pikangikum as it worked to achieve the Four Pillars in their work together: Advocacy, Education, Partnership and Strategic Giving. Since 2013, Pimatisiwin Nipi Group partnered with Pikangikum and with PWRDF to install safe drinking water and indoor plumbing in the homes that need it the most.
The Reverend Canon Martha Tatarnic worked at St. John’s as a divinity student and our parish has used her book, Why Gather, as one of our Lenten book studies. She views the water project as a way of forming partnerships and putting reconciliation into action.
Come and hear more on October 4th.
