What is the monastic life? How did it develop? What was its purpose and why has it endured? What might it have to tell us about our lives today?

A four-week book group discussion of Rowan Williams The Way of St Benedict will be led by Father Peter on Wednesdays, November 6, 13, 20, 27. 20024

The book is a collection of talks given by the former Archbishop of Canterbury. As the Reverend Andrew wrote in his book review for the Parish News, Williams writes articulately and accessibly about Benedictine life and spirituality. St Benedict, who died in 547, was the author of a set of rules that became the foundation for Western monasticism. In the book, Williams looks through the lens of the Benedictine Rule at various questions of concern to modern Christians about our faith and how we are to live it out in the world.

Please note: The book and its chapters are short! Copies will be provided without cost. Please contact Father Peter by Wednesday, October 16 if you would like to attend, so that there will be time to order the books and get them to you.
